BUSAN METROPOLITAN CITY ORDINANCE ON SUPPORTING EXCHANGES WITH COUNTRIES OF THE UNITED NATIONS WHICH PARTICIPATED IN THE KOREAN WAR

  • Article 1 (Purpose)
  • The purpose of this Ordinance is to prescribe matters related to supporting exchanges with countries of the United Nations which participated in the Korean War, to honor the noble spirit of self-sacrifice and great achievements by the countries of the United Nations that participated in battles and provided medical support in the Korean War; and to contribute to maintaining and creating international peace by friendship exchanges and cooperation with participating countries of the United Nations.
  • Article 2 (Definitions)
    • 1. The term "countries of the United Nations which participated in the Korean War (hereinafter referred to as "Participating Countries") means 16 counties which dispatched their army and 5 countries which provided medical support in the Korean War;
    • 2. The term "United Nations Day" means an anniversary (October 4) designated by the attached Table of the Regulations on Various Anniversaries;
    • 3. The term "Day of Entering into War of the United Nations Army" means an anniversary (July 27) provided in the Act on Honorable Treatment of War Veterans, etc. and Establishment of Related Associations.
  • Article 3 (Responsibilities) (1) The Busan Metropolitan City shall endeavor to form consensus among pan-citizens on celebrations for, and exchanges and cooperation with, Participating Countries.
  • (2) The Busan Metropolitan City shall formulate and implement measures necessary for activating exchanges with Participating Countries.
  • Article 4 (Support Projects) (1) The Busan Metropolitan City Mayor (hereinafter referred to as the "Mayor") may support the following projects to activate commemoration for and exchanges with Participating Countries:
    • 1. Celebrations of the United Nations Day and Day of Entering into War of the United Nations Army;
    • 2. Projects for flag-raising and publicity of Participating Countries regarding celebrations under the Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance on Support of Turn Toward Busan;
    • 3. Projects for exchanges with Participating Countries and international cooperation;
    • 4. Collecting relics of Participating Countries, exhibiting the same, and holding academic events, etc.;
    • 5. Projects for naming honorable roads to activate international exchanges with Participating Countries;
    • 6. Project the Mayor deems necessary therefor.
  • (2) The Mayor may fully or partially subsidize the expenses incurred therein to nonprofit corporations or nonprofit organizations, etc. which promote projects provided for in paragraph (1), within budgetary limits.
  • (3) The Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance on Management of Local Subsidies shall apply to the methods and procedures, etc. of support of exchanged under paragraph (2).

ADDENDA

  • This Ordinance shall enter into force one month after the date of its promulgation.
