Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Honorable treatment and Support of Persons, etc. of Distinguished Services to the State.
- Article 1 (Purpose)
- The purpose of this Ordinance is to prescribe necessary matters for the honorable treatment and support of patriots and organizations rendering distinguished services to the State, and to promote the culture of honoring patriots and veterans.
- Article 2 (Definition)
- The definitions of terms used in this Ordinance are as follows:
- 1. The term “persons eligible for honorable treatment and support” means those who have sacrificed and contributed (hereinafter referred to as the “sacrificed and contributed) pursuant to Article 3 (1) of the Framework Act on Honorable Treatment and Support for Patriots and Veterans and their bereaved family or family to whom laws concerning patriots and veterans’ affairs apply thus receive honorable treatment and support; and
- 2. The term “organizations of persons rendering distinguished services to the State” means associations pursuant to Article 1 of the Act on the Establishment of Associations by Persons, etc. of Distinguished Services and the State and other corporations established by the approval of the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
- Article 3 (Duties)(1) The Busan Metropolitan City shall endeavor to form an atmosphere in which the private sectors can participate in the promotion of the merits of sacrificed and contributors, patriotism, and the culture of honoring patriots and veterans.
- (2) All citizens shall respect the meritorious deeds and patriotism of those who have sacrificed and/or contributed and actively cooperate with the related policy of Busan Metropolitan City
- Article 4 (Honorable Treatment and Support)
- The Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City may
render honorable treatment and support in the following subparagraphs to persons eligible for
honorable treatment and support and organizations of persons rendering distinguished services
to the State, within the limit of the budget:
- 1. Hosting a comfort event for the persons eligible for honorable treatment and support;
- 2. In case the distinguished service to the State related event takes place, awarding a prize to an exemplary person eligible for honorable treatment and support;
- 3. In case the regional newspaper such as local version of “Who’s who” is published, inserting the exploits of regional persons who have sacrificed and/or contributed;
- 4. Paying a tribute to one’s memory, in case a patriot according to Article 4 (1) of the Act on the Honorable Treatment of Persons of Distinguished Services to Independence deceases;
- 5. Providing expenses on the establishment and management of the facilities for the promotion of the merits and patriotic spirit of those who have sacrificed and/or contributed;
- 6. Providing expenses for enhancing benefits of the members of organizations of persons rendering distinguished services to the State and for the operation of the organizations rendering distinguished services to the State;
- 7. Providing expenses on visiting the sites of the Independence Movement and Battlefields for fostering a patriotic spirit and the advocacy of the spirit regarding distinguished services to the State; and
- 8. Other administrative and financial support , which the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City deems necessary for the promotion promote the culture of honoring patriots and veterans.
