□ Busan Metropolitan City is conducting autonomous bus trials within the Osiria Tourism Complex for both locals and visitors from September 16 until the end of December, ahead of the official start date in January 2026.
○ The buses run on weekdays between 09:45 and 17:55, with intervals scheduled to align with train arrivals at Osiria Station.
○ Trips originate and terminate at the Autonomous Bus Stop in front of Osiria Station on the Donghae Line, covering two routes within the East Busan Tourism Complex.
○ Rides are free of charge during the trial period; standard bus fares will apply from January 2026.
□ The fleet consists of four Level 3* autonomous electric buses, each with a maximum capacity of 15 passengers.
*Conditional automation: vehicles perform all tasks without human intervention on highways or under specific circumstances
○ Every bus is staffed with a test driver and a safety manager to handle unexpected situations promptly. Some sections adopt manual driving to ensure safety.
□ In preparation for the full rollout in January 2026, the city will collect data from the pilot program to verify technical stability and refine service quality based on citizen feedback.
□ The Osiria Tourism Complex was designated as an experimental site for driverless technology in 2022. Busan secured national funding to build the necessary infrastructure and has undertaken internal testing since July 10, 2025.
