Busan to Once Again Stage FISM WCM 2028

□ On July 15, 2025, Busan Metropolitan City was officially selected to host the 30th World Championship of Magic in 2028 at the General Assembly of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques in Turin, Italy—marking Busan’s second successful bid after its acclaimed debut in 2018.

○ During the assembly, attended by 74 representatives from magic clubs in 52 countries, Busan secured 235 out of 411 votes, surpassing Quebec, Canada, which garnered 176 votes.

□ This achievement underscores Busan’s consistent endeavors to establish itself as a ‘city of magic,’ made possible by: ▲ a solid framework for handling high-caliber events in partnership with the Busan International Magic Festival Organizing Committee; ▲ robust performance infrastructure—BEXCO and the Busan Cinema Center—paired with excellent transportation accessibility; and ▲ proactive outreach—invitations extended to FISM executives.

□ Busan aspires to become a nexus for the magical arts, bridging the brilliant history and bright future of FISM, one of the world’s most respected magic institutions. The championship is also poised to invigorate the Asian magic scene and Korea’s cultural presence.

□ Slated for July 17 to 26, 2028, across Busan—with BEXCO as the main site—the championship is expected to draw approximately 3,000 magicians and officials, generating substantial ripple effects.

○ Programming for the event will comprise: ▲ final rounds; ▲ gala shows; ▲ beachfront magic busking; ▲ forums; and ▲ hands-on activities.
