□ The 2025 Busan Food Film Festa will take place in and around the Busan Cinema Center from June 13-15, 2025.
○ Organized and hosted by the BFFF Organizing Committee and the Busan Cinema Center, the event promises a rich experience that blends cinema with the distinctive flavors of Busan’s gastronomy culture.
□ The opener, The Taste of Pho, was selected for its strong alignment with the festival’s theme: The Underside of Noodles, the Other Side of Noodles, and the Sensual Side of Noodles. The film screening will be held during the opening ceremony on June 13, at 19:00.
○ The Taste of Pho follows a Vietnamese father and daughter striving to maintain their identity and bond through food whilst living abroad. Here, noodles serve as a narrative medium to convey solidarity and empathy, beyond being just a simple ingredient.
□ This year’s edition is divided into four themed sections: ▲ The Underside of Noodles, ▲ The Other Side of Noodles, ▲ The Sensual Side of Noodles, and ▲BFFF Choice: Movie Dining.
○ Delta Boys and The Taste of Pho, falling under the Underside of Noodles theme, depict the everyday lives and camaraderie of laborers as reflected in humble noodle meals. The Other Side of Noodles presents Ramen Heads and Midnight Diner 2, highlighting the cultural and historical dimensions of noodles worldwide. Fagara and Aruna & Her Palate, part of the Sensual Side of Noodles theme, delve into how the sound, texture, and the satisfaction of eating noodle dishes evoke emotional and sensory resonance.
○ BFFF Choice: Movie Dining introduces recent food-focused films—the Solitary Gourmet, A Normal Family, and Komada - A Whisky Family—providing a fresh look at the connections food creates, particularly within families.
□ A variety of additional programs centered on noodles will also be available: ▲ Cook! Talk! ▲ Cinema Food Terrace, and ▲ JuJu Club.
○ Cook! Talk! is a pre-screening session exploring the cuisines featured in each film. Cinema Food Terrace, in collaboration with the Busan Tourism Organization, is a signature offering that combines a yacht tour with a cinematic and gastronomic journey—exclusive to the Busan Food Film Festa.
○ At JuJu Club, BFFF programmers will share behind-the-scenes insights with the audience over drinks.
□ In tandem with film screenings, engaging side events for all ages will also take place: ▲ Food Salon, ▲ Food Therapy, and ▲Food Zone.
○ Food Salon facilitates expert-led conversations about noodle-related topics; Food Therapy remains a crowd favorite, inviting participants to make vegetable pizza by hand; Food Zone showcases trendy food trucks and pop-up vendors; and Potluck Table encourages people to gather and enjoy food together.
□ Some programs, such as Cinema Food Terrace, JuJu Club, and Food Salon, require an admission fee, while the opening ceremony and outdoor screenings are free of charge. Ticket sales will begin on May 28 via the Busan Cinema Center website (dureraum.org).
