Haeundae-gu will hold the “2025 Haeundae Sand Festival” from May 16 to 19 with a theme of “K-Culture in Sand.”
This year, the festival will feature K-Culture as its main theme, which has now expanded beyond K-pop and K-dramas to include food, beauty, and fashion, and will showcase over 20 works highlighting the 20-year history of the Sand Festival.
The festival will feature works that embody iconic images of Korean culture, including the founding myth of Dangun (legend), Goguryeo hunting scenes (sports), Hangeul (King Sejong), popular music (Rose’s Apartment), Dae Jang Geum (Jewel in the Palace drama), Korean cuisine, and characters (Baby Shark).
The main work is a larger-scale piece measuring 12 meters in height and 25 meters in width, featuring three-dimensional depictions of General Yi Sun-sin and traditional wedding ceremonies against the backdrop of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, and the Dabotap Pagoda and Cheomseongdae Observatory, both situated in Gyeongju.
The sand sculptures will be on display until June 8 after the festival ends.
