The city of Busan held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Suyeonggang River Human Bridge construction project on January 13, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Suyeonggang riverside deck.

The Suyeonggang River Human Bridge will be a 214-meter long and 7 to 18-meter wide footbridge for pedestrians and bike riders connecting the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu with the residential area in Suyeong-gu. Construction of the project is expected to be finished by 2025.

Along with pedestrian bridges at Hwamyeong Ecological Park and Samnak Ecological Park, the Suyeonggang River Human Bridge will support a walkable living environment as part of the 15-minute city project.

The city also plans to create a trail that connects the Busan Museum of Art, Busan Cinema Center, APEC Naru Park, pedestrian bridge, Suyeong Paldo Traditional Market, B-Con Ground and F1963 in order to promote walking-based tourism.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “The Suyeonggang River Human Bridge will be a major contributor to the creation of a water front cultural space and also promote walking tourism once it is complete.” He also added, “We will make our best efforts to make the pedestrian bridge one of Busan’s unique landmarks. “
