The Dongbaek Taxi Smart Service introduces an interpretation/translation service for foreigners through the “Dongbaek Taxi” mobile app and the “Life in Busan” Mobile app.

As part of the agreement, a QR code linked to the “Life in Busan” mobile app will be attached inside of Dongbaek taxis for passengers to be able to scan to access the interpretation service.

The interpretation and counseling service is provided through the “Life in Busan” mobile app 12 hours a day from 9 am to 9 pm. Foreign residents in Busan can call and receive accompanying interpretation services (on-site interpreting/professional counseling) and chat on the “Life in Busan” mobile app when they experience difficulties with communicating in Korean in daily life. The “Life in Busan” Mobile App Interpretation/Translation Support Group offers support in 12 different languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer, Russian, Lao, Mongolian, Thai, Tagalog and Uzbek.

Second, the city will implement the “Dongbaek Taxi” mobile app that users can link to the “Life in Busan” mobile app to use the app’s services. The services, available in multiple languages, include interpretation/translation, disaster alert, daily life information and more.

In addition, the city of Busan and the Busan taxi industry have pledged to cooperate on a foreigner support project by the BFIC to solve daily life difficulties for Busan-based foreign residents.
