The City of Busan will increase the basic taxi fare starting at 4:00 a.m. on December 15, 2021.

After a review by the Transport Innovation Committee and the Price Policy Committee, the City of Busan has decided to increase the basic rate of a medium-sized taxi from the current 3,300 won for the first 2 kilometers to 3,800 won and the basic rate of the Deluxe (Mobeom) taxis and Jumbo taxis for less than 10 passengers from the current 5,000 won for the first 3 kilometers to 6,000 won.

The city explained that the new fare reflects the difficulties in operating conditions experienced by the taxi industry as the costs of labor and fuel have continued to rise in the past four years since the last fare adjustment in September 2017.

The city government will update taximeters with the new fare system on December 15, 2021. It expects the process to take about one month to complete. Until the taximeter rate is adjusted to the new taxi fare rates, taxi passengers will have to pay an additional 500 won on top of the fare from the previous meter.
