The City of Busan Designates Millak Hoe Town as an Exemplary Market for Origin Labeling of Fishery Products

The City of Busan announced that it has designated Millak Hoe Town (fish market) in Suyeong-gu as an exemplary market for origin labeling of fishery products in 2021 to formalize and revitalize the origin labeling system for fishery products.
The system for designating exemplary markets for origin labeling of fishery products has been in operation since 2007 to protect customers through the settlement system.
A total of 8 markets, including Nampo-dong Dried Fisheries Wholesale Market and Busan Fisheries Association Jagalchi Market, have been designated as exemplary markets.
The city plans to boost the consumption of fishery products by utilizing the system and relieve residents’ anxiety caused by the government of Japan's announcement on the decision to release Fukushima-treated water into the ocean.
The City of Busan prioritizes the health and safety of citizens and assures the safety of fishery products by enhancing radiological monitoring of fishery products, releasing transparent information and carrying out crackdowns on the sale of fishery products with misleading origins.
