The City of Busan has announced the top 10 achievements of the municipal administration in 2020 according to a public survey: The city conducted an on and offline public survey regarding the achievements of the municipal administration in 2020 and major policies from December 1 to 14, 2020 with responses from about 4,600 participants, including Busan citizens, journalists and public officials.


Top 10 City Achievements in 2020

1. Established Busan’s COVID-19 crisis response system with the cooperation of citizens

2. Support for the Gadeok New Airport project, decision to cancel Gimhae New Airport project

3. Opening of Busan Metropolitan Library in November

(4-story building with 16,305㎡ total floor area and two basement levels, 254,816 resources)

4. Busan selected as an International Tourist City in Korea by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism

5. Broke ground on the second phase of the North Port Redevelopment Project

6. Launched master plan to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan and submitted the city’s official bid

(Economic ripple effects: Generate 43 trillion won of output, 18 trillion won of added value and 500,000 jobs)

7. Passed eligibility proposal for underground highway construction between Sasang and Haeundae in October and preliminary feasibility of Bongnaesan Tunnel in May

8. Oryukdo Line Basic Plan granted approval from MOLIT

(The Metropolitan Transport Commission of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) approved the basic plan for a section of the Tram Demonstration line (Oryukdo Line) on October 29, 2020)

9. Achieved the city’s goal to secure national expenditures of 7.5 trillion won for 2021

(Secured national expenditures of 7 trillion and 72.2 billion won for 2021, an increase of 9.1 percent compared to the previous year)

10. Launched ‘Mama Call’, the nation’s first call taxi service for pregnant women
