The City of Busan and the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation (BFIC) appointed 11 expert advisors in 8 fields, including judicial affairs, law, labor, immigration, tax, tariff, real estate and finance to enhance consultation with foreign residents in Busan.

The BFIC has been operating the Busan Global Center since 2011 offering counseling services to help Busan-based foreign residents with any difficulties that they may encounter and to provide them with necessary assistance. The counseling service is available in 7 different foreign languages.

The number of counseling cases handled in 2018 was 10,005 cases involving daily living issues and 221 cases in need of special expertise.

To provide better a counseling service to foreign residents in Busan, the appointed consultants include lawyers who are fluent in foreign languages and retired immigration office and Busan district court officials.

The expert consultation service takes place on a one-on-one basis and a translator can be provided if needed. Consultations on judicial affairs and labor issues are scheduled to be offered twice per week and immigration issues will be twice per month, while law, tax, tariff, real estate and financial issues will be offered via reservations.

The expert consultation service is available to foreign residents by visiting the Busan Global Center, by call to 1577-7716, email to jes9234@bfic.kr or message to Kakao talk ‘Busan Global Center.’

There were 64,145 foreign nationals living in Busan as of November 2019, which is 1.9 percent of Busan’s total population, according to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The City of Busan and BFIC are planning various projects geared towards foreign residents to help them settle down faster and play a more active role in our foreigner friendly city.
