No longer able to sustain the growing need of the population, construction started in 1926 at Chungryung, Beomeosa for a purification plant with the water source coming from Tongmyun, Yangsan’s Beopgi Reservoir.
Finished in 1932, the Beomeosa treatment plant produced 14 thousand㎥daily.
With the new found liberation of Korea, the country felt an incredible 6.25 times increase in population, while mass amount of citizens relocated into the city. Due to such extraordinary circumstances with large quantity of water being consumed by industries, a new project in Myungjang
(1946 ~ 1958) was started with the capacity to produce 8000㎥ daily.

During the 5 year plan of Korea’s development The 5 year plan to revolutionize Korea’s industrials caused water shortages leading Nakdong River to be utilized as the main reservoir source.
