Vault Art Museum

The Vault Art Museum, located on the first basement floor, highlights the historical significance and architectural features of the main building of the Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum, which served as the Bank of Korea Busan Headquarters until 2013. The museum consists of four vaults were originally used to store currency, surrounded by a double-walled corridor for surveillance. The underground vault’s structure and distinctive features have been meticulously preserved, with original facilities and steel grids retained to the greatest extent possible.

Vault Art Museum

The formerly restricted area has been transformed into the Vault Art Museum, now open to the public and showcasing a variety of artworks.
This venue uses art to reinterpret Busan’s local history and the unique layout of its original city center.
Since its opening, the museum has hosted several exhibitions, including ‘History—The Closest, Most Secret’, which expresses memories of Busan through art ‘The Original City Center’, ‘The Color of Reminiscence’, exploring the past, present, and future possibilities of Busan’s original city center and ‘Unmanned Vault Tour’, an installation-based exploration of the building’s space and history.
