Fun in the deep blue water under Busan’s clear skies is waiting for you.
Haeundae, Songjeong, Songdo, Ilgwang, Imrang and Dadaepo beaches open July 1. Gwangalli Beach already opened to the public June 26. All seven beaches in Busan will be open until the end of August.
The beaches in Busan have undergone extensive beautification, with facilities installed to transform them into world-class leisure spots. A plethora of events are scheduled to celebrate the beginning of summer, including the Busan Sea Festival, the Busan International Rock Festival and the Marine Sports Festival.
At Haeundae Beach, Busan’s most famous, a “vitamin shower” has been installed, designed to restore swimmers’ skin after extensive exposure to ultraviolet radiation through a rich wash in vitamin C. When the sun goes down, the beach will be lit up by water laser light shows, rock performances and open air cafes.
On Gwangalli Beach, many cultural street performances will complement the beautiful scenery of Gwangan Grand Bridge or Diamond Bridge and the Gwangalli New Media Art Museum. At six small performance halls, daily concerts of guitar, jazz, saxophone and pop music and Korean traditional dance will take place every day.
Dadaepo Beach, which is famous for its beautiful sunsets, is now home to the Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream. Right in front of the entrance of the sandy beach, the huge fountain is 60 meters in diameter and pushes water 55 meters in the air with 1,046 nozzles, while 511 lighting fixtures illuminate the show. The fountain struts its stuff three times every day (five times on Saturdays and Sundays) and twice each night, thrilling beachgoers.
A 17-meter-high artificial waterfall and promenade are the main additions at Songdo Beach.
The Busan Sea Festival, Busan International Rock Festival and Marine Sports Festival are a few of the events planned on the beaches.
The Busan Sea Festival will take place from August 1 to 9, with events to include an open stage and Korean traditional activities for foreign visitors. The Busan International Hip-hop Festival is scheduled for August 3 and 4 at Haeundae Beach, while the Busan International Rock Festival will take place at Dadaepo August 7 to 9. And even more festivals are coming up soon for visitors to participate in and enjoy.
