Classic operas to be staged

The Eulsukdo Opera Festival, an affordable way to experience high-quality performance art, will be held at the Eulsukdo Cultural Center from July 4 to 25. Productions will be staged for the duration of the festival, beginning with Georges Bizet's "Carmen" on July 4. On July 11, the Gyeongsang Opera Company will put on "Cavalleria Rusticana," an opera in one act by Pietro Mascagni. The same company is also putting on "Cinderella," by Giochino Rossini, which is the most appropriate show for family viewing. 

"Carmen" is one of many operas to be staged in Busan this year.

Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro" will be performed by the Azimuth Opera Company on July 17 and 18. The closing shows will be staged on July 25. The Korean Symphony Orchestra will present a five-show finale including "Swan Lake," "The Nutcracker," "The Barber of Seville," "Carmen" and "La Traviata." Tickets run from 10,000 won to 40,000 won.
