New years resolutions are so hot right now. Why not make yours setting a goal to take the TOPIK test this year?
TOPIK, the test of proficiency in Korean for nonnative speakers, is organised by the National Institute for International Education. It is conducted for nonnative speakers of Korean including overseas Koreans and foreigners throughout 76 different coun-tries.
TOPIK is required of any nonnative speakers who want to study in Korean universities or work in Korean companies.
There are six TOPIK tests scheduled to be conducted throughout 2019. Registration for the next test on April 21 is open online until Jan. 31. Remaining TOPIK exam dates in 2019 are on May 19, July 7, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17.
There are six levels of TOPIK proficiency, with level 6 being the highest TOPIK rank available. There are three sections based on Korean proficiency levels including listening, reading and writing. Contents consist of multiple choice questions and a writing test.
Sign up on the official TOPIK homepage, fill out the registration form and be sure to include a photograph and your name, then pay the test fee. Testing is available at various locations in Busan including Pusan National University Language Education Institute, Pukyong National University Office of International Affairs, Busan University of Foreign Studies Korean Education Center and Silla University Korean Language Institute.
TOPIK test takers must bring an identification card or certificate of alien registration. Student identification cards will not be accepted. Results of the TOPIK level test are valid for two years, and test takers can print their results from the TOPIK website.
-Fee: 35,000 won for TOPIK Ⅰ, 40,000 won for TOPIK Ⅱ
