We live in closest proximity to our own bodies. The heart beats without rest; the lungs breathe without ceasing; blood circulates throughout the body. Yet these constant movements go largely unnoticed. Rather, the body reveals itself through pain, illness, or other signals more difficult to explain. It is the presence closest to us, yet often the last to be recognized: that is the body.
Sim Jun Seub's practice begins with this experience of the body. For the artist, tinnitus was not merely a pathological symptom. The sound he heard despite the absence of any external source persisted independently of his will, attuning him to the invisible movements and sensations unfolding within his body. He began recording these subtle internal sensations through drawing, later expanding this exploration into spaces that others could experience through sound, light, and interactive installations.
This exhibition traces the trajectory of the artist’s long examination of bodily sensation. The signals of the body that first emerged through drawing expand through sound installations to encompass the entire exhibition space. Ultimately, a personal experience develops into a larger structure through which both the body and the city can be explored together.
