The painting has been handed down by the head house of loyalist Song Sang-hyeon. According to the Song family of Yeosan, governor of Dongnae Min Jung-jung ordered three-piece paintings to be drawn of the patriotic martyrs who survived the Japanese invasion in 1658 (the 9th year of King Hyojong's reign). While there are no weapons, the names of each patriot are written and the battle explained.
