These armors and helmet manufactured in the late 18th century were worn by successive commanding officers of Busanjin Fort as they offered a memorial service to Jeong Bal, the heroic commanding officer. They were manufactured in black as General Jeong Bal was wearing black armor to demonstrate his braveness, since he was called the General of Black.
The black leather armor was patterned with brass and arrows cannot be penetrated as the armor is layered with fish-scale-like steel.
