Busan residents can now enjoy greater financial benefits from two different transit fare reimbursement systems: Dongbaek Pass and K-Pass.

Dongbaek Pass, the first integrated public transit discount system in the nation, offers users rebates when their monthly public transit expenses exceed 45,000 won, with a maximum rebate of 45,000 won.

K-Pass, introduced on May 1 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, refunds a portion of monthly public transportation expenses for users who ride buses and subways at least 15 times a month. The refund amount varies by category: General users receive a 20% refund, young adults receive 30%, and low-income individuals receive 53%. Young adults are defined as people aged 19 to 34.

Under the newly introduced "K-Pass-Dongbaek" program, users will automatically receive the larger reimbursement between the two programs. For example, general users who spend 60,000 won on public transportation in a month would get 15,000 won in Dongbaek Pass reimbursements, which is larger than K-Pass's 12,000 won. However, young adults would receive 18,000 won, and low-income individuals would receive 31,800 won from K-Pass.

The K-Pass-Dongbaek program also offers benefits to those who are not eligible for Dongbaek Pass reimbursements because their monthly transit expenses do not exceed 45,000 won.

With Dongbaek Pass, mass transit users receive a cashback reward via the Dongbaek Jeon application, which can be used at eligible businesses across the city, on the 15th of every month. Meanwhile, K-Pass cashback is sent to the user's account on the refund day, which varies by card company.

Anyone over 19 years old who uses Dongbaek Jeon is eligible to join the K-Pass program. International residents need to first purchase a prepaid Dongbaek Jeon card to use K-Pass. See the information below on how to benefit from the program.
