Busan is recognized as the no. 1 travel destination

Busan is rapidly becoming recognized globally as a top travel destination. Busan City announced it was selected as the joint best city in the “2023 Popular Upcoming Attractions” by the leading travel service provider Trip.com. 

Along with the Austrian capital Vienna, Busan ranked no. 1 among 1,211 cities worldwide. The rankings reflect consumers’ and judges' votes based on user reviews, searches, purchases, ratings and subscriptions.

Furthermore, Busan was selected as a “2023 Best Oversea Partner,” giving the city two honorable awards from Trip.com. The travel site recognizes 30 partners worldwide and Busan is one of seven partners in Asia.

The city is receiving accolades from domestic audiences as well. Consumer Insight, a tourism research organization in Korea, conducted a survey titled “Annual Research on the Satisfaction of Summer Vacation Destinations in Korea.” The results, released in September, show Busan is the top-ranked vacation destination in the country. This is Busan’s first time claiming the top spot in the index, which has been published since 2016.

In addition, Busan earned the top scores in terms of tourist experiences, satisfaction and more on the “2022 Night Tourism Survey” conducted by the Korea Tourism Organization.

Ahead of the final vote for the World Expo 2030 next month, Busan will relentlessly upgrade its city brand and global reputation. The city will enrich its tourism offerings to garner more travelers and solidify its role as a top travel destination.
