Revamped E-7-4 visa key to tackling labor shortages

The Ministry of Justice has relaxed requirements for the E-7-4 skilled worker visa to help address labor shortages in a wide range of industries.
Additionally, the government will issue up to 35,000 E-7-4 visas this year, a significant increase from last year's 2,000. The move also increases the limits on the number of foreign workers a company can employ.
The new system, dubbed "K-Point E74," will allow companies to retain more skilled workers for longer. To qualify, individuals must score 200 points out of a 300-point system, which includes minimum requirements for Korean language proficiency, annual income and relevant work experience.
The application period for E-7-4 visas will continue until Dec. 20, 2023. Individuals can apply through Hi Korea (hikorea.go.kr). Direct inquiries to the Immigration Contact Center (1345).
