The number of users of Dongbaek Pass, Korea’s first integrated public transit discount system, is expected to reach 600,000 by the end of this month. By late October, the program had recorded 575,000 users—double the figure from the previous year, with an average of 20,000 new users signing up each month.

The recent introduction of a prepaid option has made Dongbaek Pass accessible to a broader group, including foreign residents and minors. Additionally, the new K-Pass Dongbaek program provides benefits to users whose monthly transit expenses are below 45,000 won, making them ineligible for regular Dongbaek Pass reimbursements.

To celebrate the program’s success and encourage more participation, the city of Busan is hosting two events through Nov. 20. In the first event, users who write reviews on the Dongbaek Pass website will have a chance to win prizes; the top five reviewers will receive coffee vouchers worth 30,000 won, while 300 other participants will be awarded a free coffee coupon.

In the second promotion, “Finding Family Members Using Dongbaek Pass,” families with at least one member who has used or joined Dongbaek Pass can participate by registering on the program’s official website. Ten selected families will receive 45,000 won in Dongbaek Pass reimbursements for each participating family member.
