Busan hosts a kids’ hanbok design contest
Busan City is holding a contest titled “Aeji-jungji(애지중지), Design Your Kid’s Clothes” until Aug. 11. The contest focuses on hanbok design. Participants must draw the hanbok they want their child to wear and submit it along with a story about their family.
The contest is open to all families with pre-school-aged children and an address in Busan. Participants can include parents, grandparents and parents-to-be. Foreigners registered in Busan can also apply.
Busan City will review the costume designs and stories and announce 10 winners on the Aeji-jungji(애지중지) website on Aug. 30.
The prize money includes:
- 1 million won for one grand prize winner
- 600,000 won each for two second-place winners
- 300,000 won each for three third-place winners
- 100,000 won each for four fourth-place winners
The total prize money is 3.5 million won shared between 10 entries. The grand prize and second-place winners will also receive a certificate from the mayor of Busan.
The winners will then work with professional fashion designers to turn their hanbok designs into real clothes. The completed hanboks will be showcased during a fashion show scheduled for October.
