Busan is good for English learning
Busan English Broadcasting, commonly known as BeFM, presents "All-Star English," a new radio show to promote Busan's English-Friendly City campaign.
"All-Star English," which premiered on Feb. 19, is an "edutainment" program that makes learning English easy and fun. It airs Monday through Friday, 6:08 to 8 p.m., and boasts a stellar lineup of hosts, including Minsoo Shin, one of BeFM's most prominent broadcasters; R&B singer Johan Kim, who serves as Busan's ambassador for the English-Friendly City policy; Asia Lee Campbell, the Youth Ambassador for Public Relations of the United Nations Memorial Cemetery; and Boogi, Busan's beloved seagull mascot.
Each two-hour episode features various segments to teach audience members practical English expressions. Content includes sing-alongs with Kim, discussions on the generation gap with Campbell and lessons on using English in daily life with Park Seong Eun, ambassador for Busan's small businesses.
In addition, Boogi will encourage listeners. Like many people, Boogi is hesitant about learning a new skill; together, Boogi and listeners can find motivation to boost their English fluency.
"All-Star English" airs on radio frequency FM 90.5 and FM 103.3. For those who miss the live show, rebroadcasts air Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 7 a.m. The show is also available on BeFM's official website, YouTube channel and mobile app. Episodes can also be streamed on the podcast platform Podbbang.
