Busan Metropolitan City will hold the “Dream Tree Winter Vacation English Camp (꿈나무 겨울방학 영어캠프)” for underprivileged students. The sleepaway camp will take place over two sessions between Jan. 3 to 17, 2024, at Busan Global Village.

The camp is open to students from elementary 3rd grade to middle school 2nd grade. The first session, Jan. 3 to 9, is open to residents of Buk-gu, Busanjin-gu, Dong-gu, Dongnae-gu, Gangseo-gu, Geumjeong-gu, Gijang-gun and Nam-gu.

The second session, Jan. 11 to 17, is for residents of Haeundae-gu, Jung-gu, Saha-gu, Sasang-gu, Seo-gu, Suyeong-gu, Yeongdo-gu and Yeonje-gu.

Students will take a test to determine their English proficiency and then placed in the appropriate classes.

This year’s camp theme is “Magic, Illusion and Fantasy,” and promises an enchanted week of memory-making. During the 6-night, 7-day camp, students will enjoy jam-packed days of fun activities, making friends and learning English. There will even be a field trip to ride the Songdo Cable Car.

Busan City will cover 100% of the costs for attending students. To apply, contact your local district or county office. Applications will be accepted until Dec. 21 for session one and until Dec. 26 for session two. Priority will be given to children from low-income backgrounds first, then to children from multicultural families and multi-child households. The standard for multi-child households is two children, with three or more children given priority.

Priority will also be granted to students who have not participated in this camp before, but students who joined the camp in previous years are still encouraged to apply. Students who are currently participating in the “Global Busan Young Leader Nurturing Project” are ineligible.
