A conversation from G-Star 2023

 

G-Star, South Korea's biggest annual gaming industry trade show, kicked off its grand opening on Nov. 16 at BEXCO.

The City of Busan has proudly hosted the event since 2009 and will continue to do so until at least 2028.

Under the theme of “Expand Your Horizon,” a total of 1,037 companies from 42 countries will operate more than 3,320 booths, making this year's G-Star the biggest ever.

G-Star features a variety of exhibitions, promotions and conferences. 

The B2B zone is for industry professionals and features business conferences and networking opportunities. 

The B2C zone is open to the public and showcases games from around the world. In addition, visitors can see performances by acclaimed content creators at the Media Center.

With the gaming world here in the city, Daily Busan was lucky enough to speak with Ms. Sena Erverdi and Ms. Chloe Cave from Adverty, the Stockholm-based company that provides in-game advertising solutions. 

Q1. Please tell me about your experience in Busan so far. 

Ms. Erverdi: It's very good, actually. I can say we were expecting that Busan is going to be a big and very technological city, but it's beyond our expectation. 

Ms. Cave: Yeah, same here as well. It's fall and winter so I thought no one's here, but actually it's really buzzing.

Q2. What is the most interesting aspect of G- STAR 2023? 

Ms. Erverdi: I think the number of the gamers and to see how big the Korean gaming ecosystem is the most interesting and big thing. 

Ms. Cave: I think for me the people here like Korean publishers or studios. They've been very welcoming and treat us like VIPs. The welcoming gestures were really nice. 

Q3. As you may know, Busan is currently making efforts to host the World Expo 2030. In your view, do you think Busan can successfully host the World Expo?

Ms. Cave: Yes, I think so. Busan has got the space, money and is well organized.
