BMCHM is hosting an event for music lovers
The Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum, in Jung-gu district, will host the Gwangbok Record Fair on Nov. 10 and 11.
The event is sponsored by the Korea Tourism Organization as part of a nationwide effort to promote nighttime tourism. Festivalgoers can delve into the allure of Busan’s original city center, brimming with unique stories and culture.
The Gwangbok Record Fair is a must-visit event for avid music fans. Visitors can enjoy talks on the history of pop music and buy vinyl records.
On Nov. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m., Professor Gyu Tag Lee and author Kim Doo Wan will discuss the book they translated, “Motown: The Sound of Young America.” The conversation will be centered around the legendary Motown Records, the music label of iconic superstars like The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Boyz II Men. Participants can also listen to the songs featured in the book.
On Nov. 11, professional DJs Midasbeats and Noimnot will host a talk show and live performance at 7 p.m. The DJs will also share tips for storing and caring for vinyl records and what to watch out for when buying records on the secondhand market.
Outside of the museum, visitors can step back in time at the Café de Busan. Guests can enjoy tea and beverages inside the charming, retro-themed café. The shop takes after the music rooms of the Gwangbok-dong neighborhood, which were popular in the 1970s and 80s. The café is open from 6 to 10 p.m. until Nov. 11.
There will also be a Starry Night Busan photo zone offering the perfect backdrop for your pictures.
