G-Star and LoL Worlds happening in Busan this November

Gaming enthusiasts are in for a treat this November in Busan, the mecca of esports. The city is set to host some of the most highly anticipated esports events, including the 2023 League of Legends World Championship and G-Star 2023.


The LoL World Championship, commonly know as Worlds, features 22 teams from around the world competing for a cash prize and the Summoner’s Cup. According to Riot Games, the publisher of LoL, the trophy is designed by American jewlry brand Tiffany & Co., and weighs about 20kg.


The Worlds quarterfinals, from Nov. 2 to 5, and the semifinals, from Nov. 11 to 12, will be played at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Dongnae-gu district.


Aside from the riveting gameplay, visitors can enjoy a variety of side events during the tournament. The “Knockout Stage Event Zone” will take place from Nov. 2 to 5 at the Busan e-Sports Arena in Busanjin-gu.


The other esports event is G-Star 2023, the most significant video game trade and industry expo in Korea. This year’s record-breaking event will take place from Nov. 16 to 19 at BEXCO in Haeundae-gu district.


Industry giants like Google Play, Epic Games Korea, Netmarble, and NCSOFT will participate. Game publisher Wemade returns as the main sponsor for this year’s festival.


For safety reasons, there will be no on-site ticket sales this year. All visitors must purchase tickets online. The one-day ticket for general admission costs 15,000 for adults and 8,000 for those under age 18.
