Busan Global Village offers educational programs to help people learn practical English skills.

On Saturday, Oct. 28, BGV will host two events to teach people useful English expressions. Through simulation and role-playing, participants will learn how to confidently speak English for everyday situations. Native English speakers will be on hand to help facilitate conversations.

First is the 2023 BGV English Flea Market. During the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants can buy and sell real goods. The only requirement is that everyone speak English only. Visitors can engage in small talk and practice asking for goods and negotiating prices.

To join the flea market, people will exchange money for “BGV Dollars,” which can be used to purchase items. The exchange rate is 1,000 won = $1 BGV dollar.

The other event is “Travel to BGV.” Participants can learn common English expressions to use when riding public transportation overseas. Visitors will engage with native English speakers in a variety of travel simulations, from checking in at an airport to riding a taxi.

“Travel to BGV” will be conducted over two 60-minute sessions, from 1 to 2 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. Each session can accommodate 100 people. Joining the event is free, and interested individuals can pre-register for the event on the BGV website or in-person on the day of the event, space permitting.
