Do you hear the people sing? `Les Mis' back in Busan

6-2cw10

After a 10-year hiatus, "Les Miserables" returns to Busan. A new production of the acclaimed musical will debut on Oct. 15 at the Dream Theatre in Nam-gu district.
"Les Miserables" is based on the 1862 French novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. Set in early 19th-century France, the musical follows the lives and interactions of several characters, particularly the struggles of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his path to redemption.
Since the original French musical premiered in Paris in 1980, the show has been a global success thanks to music by composer Claude-Michel Schonberg and lyrics by writer Alain Boublil.
The English adaptation by producer Cameron Mackintosh is one of the most successful productions in history. It has been running in London since October 1985, making it the longest-running musical in the West End, London's renowned theater district.
Seen by over 130 million people in 53 countries and in 22 languages, "Les Miserables" is undisputedly one of the world's most popular musicals.
"Les Miserables" will run at the Dream Theatre until Nov. 19, followed by an extended run in Seoul then Daegu.
Tickets range from 90,000 won to 180,000 won per person and can be purchased via the Dream Theatre homepage or through the ticketing sites Interpark and Yes24.
