Experience the cultures of SE Asia during Busan ASEAN Week

Busan ASEAN Week 2025 is now underway at the Dong-gu Cultural Platform and will continue through Nov. 30. This international culture exchange event brings together ASEAN diplomatic corps, citizens, international students and companies seeking opportunities in the ASEAN region.
ASEAN stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The regional, intergovernmental organization comprises 11 countries, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam.
Building on the momentum of the 2019 Korea-AESAN Special Summit, Busan aims to develop the event as a catalyst for vibrant citizen diplomacy and as a foundation for sustainable cooperation with ASEAN member nations.
This time, Busan-ASEAN Week 2025 is organized under the themes “Beauty of ASEAN,” “Light of ASEAN” and “Window of ASEAN.” The event also features a special exhibition, “Dream of Korea-China-Japan,” showcasing around 300 paintings created by children from the three countries. Throughout the week, a variety of exhibitions and interactive programs invite visitors to experience the diverse cultures of ASEAN countries.
Under the theme “Beauty of ASEAN,” visitors can learn about the region and explore the distinct cultures of its member countries. Unique beverages and snacks from ASEAN countries are available for curious food lovers, along with a selection of charming souvenirs.
Under “Light of ASEAN,” a delightful lantern display featuring lanterns from different countries adds to the festive atmosphere.
The theme “Window of ASEAN” highlights diverse cultural programs. Participants can weave rattan baskets and keyrings, make brooches symbolizing Laos’s national flower and try on traditional costumes from ASEAN countries.
The event welcomes anyone interested in exploring ASEAN cultures firsthand. For further details, please visit Busan City’s official Instagram.
