Busan in bloom: top spots for flowers

With spring just around the corner, warmer weather beckons citizens outdoors. To encourage outdoor adventures, Busan is Good is introducing a new column, "Offbeat Busan Tripping," to highlight unique attractions and experiences. Each installment will showcase the city's natural beauty, where the sea, rivers and mountains converge.

As the proverb goes, March "comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb." The lingering winter chill gradually gives way to warm sunshine, soft breezes and emerging sprouts. Busan is among the first Korean cities to welcome spring, bursting with vibrant blossoms while northern regions remain in winter's grasp. Take advantage of this good fortune by stopping and smelling the flowers. Busan is Good offers this guide to the city's best spring flower spots to capture and share the season's beauty.

Yellow waves of yuchae
As cold weather recedes, bright yellow yuchae flowers emerge, a vibrant antidote to winter's gloomy gray. Small clusters of yuchae grow along roads and sidewalks, smiling brightly at citizens going about their day. The absolute brilliance of the yuchae, however, is revealed in a vast field when the flowers form a mesmerizing golden sea.
