Music and movies galore at the first Dadaepo Sunset Film Festival

The inaugural Dadaepo Sunset Film Festival will take place from Oct. 18 to 20 at Dadaepo Beach and movie theaters across Saha-gu District.

Dadaepo Beach, the main venue of the festival, will have a 450-inch screen for audiences to enjoy movies right by the water. Up to 3,000 people can attend each screening.

Each night of the festival will feature specially selected films and events. On Oct. 18, “Madagascar Music” will be presented. The documentary follows a group of Korean musicians and volunteers on a mission to bring music to children in Madagascar. They bring ukuleles with them and teach children to play the instruments.

Oct. 19 features the movie “Tae Guk Gi.” The movie illustrates the story of two brothers who are forcibly drafted into the South Korean Army at the outbreak of the Korean War. Director Kang Je-gyu and the film’s actors will give a special talk. There will also be a 10-minute fireworks display at 8:50 p.m.

“The Sheriff in Town,” a Korean crime comedy film starring Lee Sung-min and Kim Sung-kyun, will close out the festival.

In addition to the films, festivalgoers can enjoy live performances by Korean Ballad queen Baek Ji-young, lead vocalist of the rock band Buzz, Min Kyung Hoon, trot singer Na Taejoo and others. 

Visitors will also have plenty of food and beverage options from Dadaepocha, a food court and a food lounge.

Other movies, including short films directed by up-and-coming filmmakers, will be presented at Lotte Cinema Jangrim and CGV Hadan Artmalling. Local university film and video majors will also present their work.

All screenings and activities are free of charge, so come and enjoy movies, music and events at the backdrop of the most beautiful sunset point in Busan, Dadaepo Beach.
