Spring healing at the 22nd Busan Urban Agriculture Expo

From April 9 to 12, the 22nd Busan Urban Agriculture Expo will transform Daejeo Ecological Park into a vibrant sanctuary of growth and healing. Set against the park’s iconic canola flower fields, the event invites visitors to immerse themselves in the soothing comfort of nature and the intriguing world of urban agriculture, all wrapped in the seasonal glamour of spring.
Under the theme “Healing Busan: Therapeutic Agriculture in the City,” this year’s expo features an array of nature-inspired programs. By highlighting the profound connection between nature and well-being, the event aims to showcase the public value of agriculture through stunning floral exhibitions, performances, and hands-on activities.
While strolling through the massive yellow waves of canola flowers is a seasonal highlight of Daejeo Ecological Park, the expo offers so much more. Key highlights include healing gardens vibrantly adorned across nine distinct themes, and a barrier-free garden that offers an inclusive planting experience for everyone. Visitors can even check their stress and depression levels on-site or participate in interactive sessions such as floral arrangement classes and vegetable planting. For a more mindful escape, the “Healing Yoga & Meditation” program offers a novel outdoor experience, allowing you to recharge your mind amidst a gentle spring breeze. This special session is limited to 100 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, with pre-registration and a 10,000 won fee required, so early application is highly recommended.
Beyond delightful programs, the expo offers a glimpse into the future of agriculture. Industry insiders and curious visitors alike can explore cutting-edge drone cultivation techniques and smart farming systems. A variety of modern agricultural machinery will be on display, alongside tractor and cultivator simulation sessions that offer unique entertainment for the general public and valuable insights for industry professionals.
The event also serves as a gateway to Busan’s local specialties, including the city’s premium rice variety “Hwanggeum Yechan,” the “Baekgang” chrysanthemum, and the nationally renowned Daejeo salty tomatoes.
Since its debut in 2005 as Korea’s first event of its kind, the Busan Urban Agriculture Expo has spent 22 years redefining how agriculture composes and shapes our daily lives through innovative visions. Paired perfectly with the mild weather that awakens the earth, this expo is the ultimate destination to soak up nature’s quiet yet substantial gifts—offering a soul-soothing opportunity for every urbanite to reconnect with the natural world.
