The 2025 Busan Food Film Festa begins service on June 13
The 2025 Busan Food Film Festa will take place from June 13 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center, serving a delightful mix of cinema and cuisine. This one-of-a-kind festival offers visitors a feast for the eyes and stomach.
This year’s theme is “Noodles,” explored through four programs: The Underside of Noodles, The Other Side of Noodles, The Sensual Side of Noodles and BFFF Choice: Movie Dining.
The festival opens with “The Taste of Pho,” a heartwarming story of conflict and reconciliation between a Vietnamese immigrant father and daughter. The film explores how food is used as a medium to portray identity and family in a foreign land.
The Other Side of Noodles program features two Japanese films that dive into culinary craftsmanship. Viewers will witness how everyday food becomes an expression of mastery and dedication.
The Sensual Side of Noodles takes a more intimate turn. These films explore how the texture, aroma and warmth of noodles can evoke deep emotions. Indonesian film “Aruna & Her Palate” and Hong Kong film “Fagara” capture the bittersweet flavors of nostalgia and affection, reminding us how food can become a powerful emotional anchor.
In BFFF Choice: Movie Dining, a curated selection of recent releases includes “The Solitary Gourmet,” “A Normal Family,” and the Japanese animation “Komada - A Whisky Family.” Each film shows how food brings people closer and strengthens family bonds.
The festivities extend well beyond the screen. Foodies can indulge in culinary events designed to elevate the entire experience. At the Food Terrace, guests can taste dishes from the films they just watched.
The Cinema Food Terrace offers dinner with a view, combining gourmet eats with a scenic river cruise.
For those looking to dig a little deeper, the Food Salon features casual talks with professionals from the food industry over shared plates and drinks.
Kids can join the Food Therapy program, where they’ll make veggie pizzas from start to finish—selecting, chopping, baking and, of course, eating. All around the venue, food trucks and a vibrant Food Zone will serve everything from local specialties to irresistible street food.
While the opening ceremony and outdoor screenings are free of charge, programs like the Food Terrace, Juju Club, and Food Salon require a ticket. Paid program tickets are available on the Busan Cinema Center website. For more information, visit the Busan Food Film Festa website and its official social media channels.
