Busan serves global cuisine and cooking competitions this weekend

The 21st Busan International Food Expo and the Busan Marina Chef Challenge 2024 will take place from Oct. 4 to 6 at BEXCO in Haeundae-gu District.

Busan, known for its rich culinary heritage, is promoting its status as a “Gastronomic City” and a must-visit destination for gourmands. BIFE will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore food culture from around the world, including temple food, Busan’s local delicacies and Spanish cuisine.

A special booth will commemorate 140 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Italy, offering a presentation on traditional Italian pasta. Pasta enthusiasts won’t want to miss this event.

In addition, chefs from Michelin Guide-listed restaurants will perform live cooking demonstrations. Visitors will not only see how signature dishes are made but can also sample the dishes through the Michelin Dining in BIFE program. The Michelin Dining program features four-course meals from Busan’s top French fine dining restaurants. Reservations can be made on the BIFE website.

Meanwhile, with “Culinary Class Wars” the top show on Netflix, millions of people are captivated by the passion and pressure of cooking competitions. Luckily for residents and visitors, the city is hosting the Busan Marina Chef Challenge 2024. Come and witness the talent and creativity of professional chefs, students and amateur cooks as they take on various cooking challenges.
