Busan’s Dream Tree English Camp empowers underprivileged students
Busan Metropolitan City hosts the 2024 Dream Tree English Camp (꿈나무 영어캠프) from July 30 to Aug. 13. Since its inception in 2010, the program has offered free English educational activities for students from low-income and underprivileged households. Busan City will cover 100% of the costs for attending students.
The sleepaway camp will take place over two sessions at Busan Global Village. The first session, from July 30 to Aug. 5, is open to residents of Gangseo-gu, Geumjeong-gu, Gijang-gun, Nam-gu, Dong-gu, Dongnae-gu, Busanjin-gu, and Buk-gu districts.
The second session, from Aug. 7 to 13, is for residents of Sasang-gu, Saha-gu, Seo-gu, Suyeong-gu, Yeonje-gu, Yeongdo-gu, Jung-gu, and Haeundae-gu districts.
Participating students will take activity-based classes from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. to build confidence and improve their English abilities.
To ensure the best learning experience, all potential students must take an online placement test. Based on the assessment results, students will be placed in a course appropriate to their English level.
The camp accommodates 200 students from elementary 3rd to middle school 2nd grade. Applications will be accepted until July 12 at the district offices having jurisdiction over the applicant's residence. Priority will be given to children from low-income backgrounds, then to children from multicultural families and multi-child households. For more information, check the table below.
