Busan Metropolitan City and Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) South Korea Chapter will co-host the Korea Coffee Championships & SCA Market in Busan from Feb. 1 to 4 at BEXCO, Haeundae-gu District.

The Korea Coffee Championships will feature three competitions—the National Barista Championship, the Latte Art Championship, and the Coffee in Good Spirits Championship—to determine the nation’s best baristas. The winners will represent Korea at the upcoming World Coffee Championships, which will also take place at BEXCO in May 2024.

The SCA Market is a must-visit event for java enthusiasts. As a celebration of all things coffee, the SCA Market offers special events and networking opportunities for the general public and industry professionals. In the “Coffee Village,” guests can enjoy a variety of brews and learn about the latest coffee trends. “Business Cupping” offers an inside look at coffee production as farmers and producers will be on hand to discuss their trade. In addition, various seminars will provide insight into the coffee world, with presentations by notable baristas such as World Barista Champions Anthony Douglas of Australia (2022) and Boram Um of Brazil (2023).

Officials expect over 100,000 spectators and 100 related businesses to gather and celebrate coffee culture. The event will promote the city’s new identity as a “coffee city” and generate interest in the upcoming World of Coffee Busan 2024, the first World of Coffee trade show held on the Asian continent.

Anyone interested in attending can pre-register on the official SCA website until Jan. 30. On-site ticketing is also available for 10,000 won.
