City to install smart bus shelters
Busan City will install state-of-the-art bus shelters citywide. The first two will be placed at the busiest stops in the city, the “Seomyeon Station-Lotte Hotel Department Store” stop and the “Centum City Station-BEXCO” stop. After gathering data, the program will expand to other areas across the city.
The “Smart Rest Bus Shelter” will be equipped with amenities to enhance the travel experience for passengers. Each shelter will feature real-time traffic information, cooling and heating, air purification, wired and wireless device charging, Wi-Fi and other safety features. In particular, the experience for wheelchair-bound passengers will be greatly enhanced by dedicated wheelchair waiting areas. The new shelters will protect waiting passengers from oncoming traffic, fine dust, extreme temperatures and more.
