Fan of the Lotte Giants? Don’t miss this special event
Ahead of the official opening of the main building, the Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum will host a variety of programs in December. One such program is sure to be a home run with baseball fans.
On Dec. 27 at 2 p.m., Cho Ji-hoon, cheermaster for the Lotte Giants, will host “Men From Busan Discuss Baseball” (부산 싸나이의 야구 이바구), a discussion on the significance of baseball in Busan history. Cho has led fans in cheering on the hometown Giants for the last 18 years. As the Korean Baseball Organization’s longest-running cheermaster for a single team, he has a unique insight into the relationship between Busan, baseball and the Lotte Giants.
The event commemorates the opening of the museum’s special exhibition, “Baseball City, Shout of Busan” (마! 쌔리라! 야구도시 부산의 함성), an exploration of baseball in the city with the most avid fans on the peninsula.
During the discussion, Cho will sit with current and past Giants greats. Fans can hear from Yeom Jong-Seok, a Busan-born-and-raised pitcher who helped the team win their last KBO championship in 1992 and is currently the manager of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology’s baseball team. Additional guests include Giants pitching coach Ju Hyeong-Kwang and former Giants ace and “A Clean Sweep” cast member Song Seung-jun.
Visit the official website of the Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum for more information. Reservations for “Men From Busan Discuss Baseball” (부산 싸나이의 야구 이바구) open on Dec. 18.
