To revitalize local tourism, Busan City and the Busan Tourism Organization have carefully curated local travel experiences for residents and tourists. After successfully promoting local attractions in Geumjeong-gu, Nam-gu and Buk-gu districts last year, the city and BTO will unveil selected programs from Suyeong-gu and Jung-gu districts this year. The local tour programs offer travelers a sense of authenticity, community and connection to the area.

In Suyeong-gu, visitors can spend their time in the Sunday Morning Market, a bazaar operating in the longstanding Gwangan Jonghap Market (광안종합시장). The 50-year-old market and nearby alleys have come alive with a youthful vibe, featuring trendy bakeries, eateries and cafes. Visitors can also find a delightful assortment of items, including chic posters, books, handcrafts and small-batch liquors.

The Sunday Morning Market will open at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27, Sept. 10 and 24, and Oct. 8 and 22. Guests can also take part in the bazaar’s eco-friendly program; people can exchange recyclable paper bags and cartons for coins to be used as cash at the market. Every five items will be exchanged for one coin worth 1,000 won. Other events, such as busking and hands-on activity booths, will welcome visitors.

For those heading to Jung-gu, the Art Stay experience provides free accommodation in the Yeongju-dong neighborhood. Guests can also participate in artistic activities, such as drawing the neighborhood’s unique cityscape and viewing art in an alley exhibition. Yeongju-dong features Busan’s oldest apartment complex, as well as the Sanbok Roads, mountainside roads in the area.

The Art Stay program will open on Aug. 3, and reservations can be made on the Visit Busan website starting July 24.
