The Busan Museum of Movies presents “The Actor is Present,” a photo exhibition showcasing Korea’s top actors. The exhibition, which can be viewed for free, will run until Nov. 26, 2023.

“The Actor is Present” is a celebration of the Korean film industry, featuring profiles and large-scale portraits of 200 Korean actors. The actors, 100 male and 100 female, represent the present and future of Korean cinema.

When director Bong Joonho’s film “Parasite” won the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2020, Korean cinema received unprecedented global interest. The Korean Film Council launched this project to feed this interest and introduce the country’s top performers to fans and film industry people worldwide. The exhibition premiered at the Korean Cultural Center New York in New York City in 2021.

Visitors to the exhibition can see intimate portraits of beloved actors such as Oscar-winning actor Youn Yuhjung and “Squid Game” star Lee Jungjae. Each display will also have a QR code providing additional content and commentary.
