Digital learning centers help bridge the digital divide

23-3 디지털교육

Korea is offering free education aimed at enhancing the digital skills of citizens. The programs launched in April are part of the country’s efforts to narrow societal and economic gaps caused by the digital divide. Busan residents can take classes at 110 digital learning centers citywide or online through the program’s website, 디지털배움터.kr.

The courses are divided into levels based on participants’ familiarity and skills with digital devices. In the Beginner(기초) classes, participants learn basic skills such as how to change settings and install apps on smartphones. Those who want to know how to use digital devices in their daily lives, such as retail kiosks or online shopping, can register for the ‘Digital Life(디지털 생활)’ classes. The Advanced (심화) classes offer opportunities to learn skills such as video-making, basic coding, metaverse, and AI. There will also be special experiences, such as 3D printing, and lectures given by digital technology experts.

There are also digital education programs for underprivileged communities and people with disabilities, including one-on-one, on-site training and a mobile learning center called “Digital Edu-bus.”

Interested individuals can visit the official website of the digital learning center or call 1800-0096 to find out more information or register for a class.
