The Busan Marine Natural History Museum's new exhibition, "Salt Fields, Somewhere in Busan," is currently open to the public until May 12 2024. The exhibition is being held at the Busan Fishing Village Folk Museum, which is a branch of the BMNHM located in the Hwamyeong-dong neighborhood of Buk-gu district.

The special exhibition is the first to preserve the history behind the rise and fall of Busan's salt industry. It features artifacts from an excavation of the salt field ruins on Myeongjido Island.

The exhibition is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on different types of salt, the geographical conditions for salt production in Korea, and the traditional sun-drying process of salt production. The second part explores the history and traces of the salt industry at the mouth of the Nakdonggang River. The third part presents the stories and lives of the people who worked in Busan's salt industry.

In addition, visitors can get hands-on experience roasting different types of salt in a gamasot, a traditional Korean cauldron.
