The city of Busan released a promotional song, “Welcome to World Expo,” on its official YouTube channel, “Busan Tube,” expressing its wish to host the World Expo 2030.

“Welcome to World Expo” is a collaboration by two of K-pop’s biggest names, singer Lee Moojin and producer Shaun Kim. Lee became famous after appearing on the Korean TV program “Sing Again.” His debut single, “Traffic Light,” spent eight weeks as the top song on Billboard K-Pop 100 in 2021, and he won Billboard’s 2021 Rookie of the Year award. Kim’s hit single “Way Back Home” topped Korean music charts in 2018, and his portfolio includes collaborations with top K-pop acts like Girl’s Generation, EXO and SHINee.

In addition, some of the lyrics for “Welcome to World Expo” were generated by the artificial text chatbot ChatGPT. The city is promoting a “Sing for Expo” campaign on Instagram until June 15. To participate, people can use the hashtag #SingForExpo and create a Reels Remix to film themselves singing along with Lee. After collecting the videos, 100 people will be randomly selected and awarded a 30,000 won gift card.
