Busan’s fireworks mastery on display at Gwangalli Beach
On April 6, Busan Metropolitan City hosted a fireworks show at Gwangalli Beach to promote its candidacy as the best city to host the World Expo 2030. Hundreds of thousands of people, including Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) inspection team members and government officials, gathered to watch the display of over 80,000 fireworks.
The display, organized under the theme of “K-Wave,” was a compilation of the skills honed over 18 years since the first fireworks festival was held to commemorate the 2005 APEC Summit. The show's highlight was a brand-new performance called "Fire of Wave," which drew rapturous applause from the audience as the fireworks illuminated the night ocean.
In addition, the display featured text fireworks illuminating the sky with messages expressing Busan’s wish to host the World Expo in 2030. The mega-sized crowd also chanted, “Let’s wish together for the World Expo.”
