‘Light it UP EXPO’ energizes citizens for Expo bid
The Expo DREAM Expedition, running across the country with citizens’ aspirations to host the World Expo 2030 Busan, played a pivotal role at “Light it UP EXPO” in Gwanghwamun Square. The event is part of efforts to express citizens’ passion for the Expo ahead of the on-site inspection by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) delegation.
The crew of the Expo DREAM Expedition conducted a flashmob dance to Lee Mujin’s viral hit “Welcome to Expo.” The Korean singer created the song to promote Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo.
The event at Gwanghwamun Square features Expo-related exhibits and installations, including a “Wishing Tree,” where citizens can post messages expressing their desire to host the major international event.
After the Light it UP EXPO, the DREAM Expedition will tour cities nationwide to drum up excitement for Busan’s Expo candidacy. The promotion will continue until April 6, when the group will return to Busan to be part of the city’s EXPO WEEK activities.
