In March, Busan Metropolitan City resumed entry of international cruise ships, which had been suspended since February 2020 due to quarantine restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The city held a hospitality event on March 15 to welcome the MS AMADEA, a cruise ship from Germany. Korea’s Navy military band and traditional fan dancers were on hand to welcome the captain, crew and passengers of the cruise ship operated by German travel agency Phoenix Reisen. Busan officials also delivered a commemorative plaque expressing the city’s desire to host the World Expo 2030. Starting with the MS AMADEA, Busan Port expects to welcome several more cruise ships in 2023.
